LANDFILLS & MINES
Landfills usually involve careful planning and investigation to select a suitable site and prepare a design that caters for the site-specific conditions, with the key criteria being containment of the landfill and leachate to acceptable environmental standards. Assessment of permeability of the base of the landfill and designing a suitable liner and landfill capping are critical to achieving this objective. Development on existing landfills, such as sporting and recreational facilities, presents additional challenges regarding foundation conditions and large settlements.
Mining operations support involve a wide-range of activities that require geotechnical and environmental input, such as water supply dams and tailings dams, haul roads, stacker/reclaimer pads, haul roads, and other infrastructure.
Asset’s Principal Engineers have considerable experience in investigation, design, and construction support for all aspects of landfill and mining operations support as mentioned above, including leading geotechnical investigation and design works for a major new coal mine in the Hunter Valley.
