Ground Investigation
A well-planned and executed ground investigation program is the key to developing a good understanding of the geotechnical conditions beneath a site. With increasing pressure to keep development costs to a minimum, it is even more important that ground investigation programs are optimised in terms of expenditure and benefit to the project. We have a wealth of experience conducting ground investigations of all scopes including: desktop studies and walkover assessments (e.g. for feasibility planning or Development Application); preliminary investigation (e.g. for preliminary design); and detailed investigation (e.g. to fill in data gaps and optimise a structural design). We can advise you on the optimum approach for your project, taking into consideration all of the relevant factors (stage of development, nature of the works, likely geotechnical conditions, and opportunities to optimise the total development costs).
Some geotechnical consultancies have in-house drilling rigs and there can be a tendency to recommend the use of their equipment when perhaps it may not be the best solution. Our approach is to select the appropriate equipment for the particular project, and engage an experienced subcontractor with that equipment, which provides us with a much wider range of options for our ground investigation works.
