Construction equipment can impose heavy loading on subgrade soils. Depending on the loading and the strength of the soils, overloading can occur resulting in overturning of equipment and consequent property damage and risk to life. A good understanding of the loads imposed and the strength of the subgrade is essential to designing an economical working platform that can permit even very heavy equipment to work safely over very soft ground.
